John spent his entire life in the thoroughbred industry…. from working a family business to a jockey and now a trainer. We take pride in administering daily care for all our horses on and off the track.
John Grabowski was raised in Coalinga, California. John’s career began as a jockey back in 1979 in Tampa Bay. His first winning mount was on “Real Spirit” at Tampa Bay Downs. After riding at Santa Anita and Delmar, John moved his tack to Finger Lakes in the early 1980’s where his uncle was a leading trainer and “He inspired me to come back and ride for him”. With a total of 3,401 wins in 17,614 starts and $28,185,106 in lifetime earnings, John ended his 28 year jockey career with six leading riding Titles, the most wins in a single season record and Finger Lakes Jockey Record of 77 stake wins. In 2011, John announced that he would retire and begin a training career.
In December 2008, John married Pauline (Polly) Forkhamer. Polly was born in Syracuse, New York and graduated from the State University of NY at Morrisville with an A.S.S. degree in Equine Science. Polly started her career as a hot walker, never thinking she was going to be a jockey, she then went to be an exerciser rider and groom. Polly worked for top trainers like Linda Rice, Todd Pletcher and Bill Mott. After years of galloping and learning from other jockeys, such as Angel Cordero, Jr, she took that next career path as a jockey. Polly was a jockey for nine years acquiring wins from Aqueduct, Delaware Park, Pimlico, Penn National & Finger Lakes. In 2012, Polly joined forces with her husband John to start their racing stable at Finger Lakes.
